DanCell was hired by Siemens to assist in the development of the
business opportunity in connection with the third mobile license in
Portugal being granted in 1997. The
cooperation involved management support regarding the network roll out
strategy, and extensive radio planning of the whole country.
The licenses in Portugal were granted by the regulator based on a beauty contest for the best coverage and services.The inputs including the radio coverage predictions produced by DanCell in cooperation with Siemens were used in the winning bid for the license by Sonaecom.
