| NorthSea Broadband |
In the NauticCom Project DanCell is focusing on providing high speed nautical communications using the latest land-based 3G and 4G broadband technologies adopted to usage on the seven seas.
One of the focus areas is the creation of a high speed broadband bridge in the North Sea servicing the ferries and off-shore industry.

Background It is now within reach to offer broadband up to 120 km from the nearest antenna mast. The data rates are quite comfortable for most applications with up to 3.2Mbit/s in down link and up to 1.8 Mbit/s in uplink.
In practical designs DanCell finds that the optimized networks offer around 1-2 Mbit/s in downlink and 800 kbits/s – 1 Mbit/s subject to distance from the antenna position.
Broadband Bridges and Ports The technology is well suited for building Broadband Bridges along the shipping routes with heavy traffic and to equip ports with similar equipment. Offering cost effective and higher data rates than available from satellite today.

Future Developments in Technology The potential is to upgrade the network to data rates in the 10-15 Mbit/s based on current plans new releases of the technology.
