| Can rural broadband be profitable? |
DanCell has created an intelligent design approach for 3G network implementation that has proven very cost effective. In a recent DanCell design audited by PriceWaterhouseCoopers the investments in infrastructure for 3G network proved to be $ 106/sqkm ($274/sq. mile) including installation and optimization of the network but excluding the license cost that varies from country to country.
The network was primarily designed for rural coverage but included additional urban coverage and coastal coverage as part of the package. The value of the operation increased to approximately $ 200m according to independent financial valuations after just two years of operating the network commercially.
